Our attorneys obtained a $195,000 settlement for an 84-year-old man who sustained a closed head injury after tripping over a bed display platform at a department store. The elderly man did not see the display platform because it was obscured by a flared out bedspread and he was focused on the cash register that was a few feet away. The defendant originally denied responsibility and claimed that the display platform was open and obvious. The defendant settled after Woodruff Johnson & Evans Law Offices attorneys demonstrated that the hidden display platform violated the department store’s own safety policies. In addition, our attorneys unearthed hundreds of other incidents where customers and employees tripped over display platforms.
